Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is a British actress, model and activist. She was born in Paris, France on April 15, 1990. At six years old Emma Watson knew that she wanted to be an actress. She studied acting, singing and dancing at Stagecoach Theater Arts in Oxford and has taken lead roles in their production and school plays. In 1999 she auditioned for a part in the film adaptation of J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and got the female lead role, Hermione Granger. The movie was released in 2001 and was Emma’s first cinematic debut. She played the role for ten years in all of the Harry Potter series and won various awards and nominations for her performance.
Aside from her acting career, Emma Watson is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN, promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.
