Nintendo is a Japanese multinational electronics and video game company based in Kyoto, Japan.
Nintendo first started as a playing card manufacturer in the 1890s to 1956. When the business did not flourish, they started venturing on other areas of business such as taxi services, love hotels and toys.
Nintendo electronics was introduced in 1974 and began to produce its own hardware developing arcade games such as EVR race. In 1979 they developed a Game & Watch concept inspired from portable LCD calculators. It is a handheld video game series with a hardware tied to the game.
In 1982 the cross D pad was developed for the Dongkey Kong version and became its trademark. The following year, Family Computer home video console was introduced. In 1985 a reworked version of the system was launched in North America, it was called the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It sold over 60 million units and have popularized video games such as Mario, Zelda and Pokemon all over the world. Nintendo has continued to develop video games and has maintained itself at the top since.
