The original character is called “Danbo” (ダンボー) created by a renowned Manga artist Kiyohiko Azuma for his Manga Yotsubato! volume 5 (よつばと！). The Amazon dot com version is one of different variations that Revoltech, a Japanese figure maker made using the fact that Danbo is made of cardboard.
