Coco is a 3D animated musical film based on the Mexican Holiday Dia de los Muertos. It was released by Walt Disney Pictures and produced by Pixar Animation Studios. The story follows Miguel Rivera who was accidentally transported to the land of the dead because of a guitar he took from a tomb. As he strums the guitar, he becomes invisible except to his dog, Dante, and his skeletal dead relatives visiting for the holiday. In the other realm he meets Hector, his great great grandfather, who tries to help him get back to the land of the living. The film premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico on October 20, 2017.
