Hatsune Miku is a virtual character created by Crypton Future Media in 2007. She was originally created as a face of computer software that allows users to generate their own music. Today, Hatsune Miku is a humanoid persona who performs onstage as an animated projection hologram popular as a 16 year-old pop star with long turquoise hair in pigtails. Her name, translated from Japanese, means “first sound from the future”. Hatsune Miku uses Yamaha Corporation’s Vocaloid and Crypton Future Media’s Piapro Studio singing synthesizing technologies with voice modeled from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita.
