Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm-based action game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set in a world where music and rhythm play a significant role in the lives of its characters. The protagonist of the game is Chai, a 25-year-old man with a dream of becoming a rock star. After an experimental cybernetic surgery, Chai’s music player gets embedded in his chest, allowing him to rhythmically fight and perceive the world through environmental synesthesia. The game also features various executives of Vandelay Technologies as antagonists. These characters include Kale Vandelay, Rekka, Zanzo, Korsica, Mimosa Roquefort, and Roxanne Vandelay. Each executive presents a unique challenge to Chai and the Resistance, with their own distinct abilities and combat styles.

In addition to the main characters, Hi-Fi Rush also features a variety of robotic characters created by Vandelay Technologies. These robots, including SCR-UB, VSF-027 “Smidge”, “The Artist”, LU-C1LLE, O5-KAR, QA-1MIL, CH-AS1R, WA-ES-2, SEB-AAA & JSF-001, and DM-ET1L, serve as enemies that Chai must overcome throughout the game.
