In the action-adventure game Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon is a standout character. This genetically-engineered raccoon was born on Halfworld during a war, rather than being transported there by scientists as depicted in the movies and comics. Rocket’s intelligence, enhanced by his creators, allowed him to escape his captors and find refuge in Knowhere. From there, he began working various jobs around the galaxy, which eventually led him to meet Groot. Groot, the sole survivor of the Flora Colossi race, had his home planet destroyed by Chitauri forces during the Galactic War. He was found by search drones owned by Taneleer Tivan, also known as The Collector, and regrew while imprisoned in The Collector’s home. Rocket, on a job, saved Groot from The Collector’s clutches, and the two began exploring the galaxy together as bounty hunters. For the next decade, they formed a formidable team, with one particular job leading them to cross paths with Star-Lord, who persuaded them to join the Guardians by offering to pay double the bounty on his head.
