Windows 11, the latest major release of Microsoft’s Windows NT operating system, was launched on October 5, 2021. It succeeded Windows 10, which was released in 2015, and is available for free for any Windows 10 devices that meet the new Windows 11 system requirements. Windows 11 is built on the same foundation as Windows 10, making it a natural transition for those who are familiar with the previous version. The minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11 include a 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC), 4 GB RAM, and 64 GB or larger storage device. The system firmware should be UEFI, Secure Boot capable. The graphics card should be compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver. A Microsoft account and internet connectivity are required for setup for Windows 11 Home and for Windows 11 Pro for personal use.
