Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition is a remastered version of the 2008 classic Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) Tales of Vesperia. The Definitive Edition, released in 2019, brings the beloved game to modern platforms with updated graphics, new music tracks, and additional content that was previously exclusive to the Japanese version of the game. The game is set in the world of Terca Lumireis, where civilization harnesses the power of an ancient technology known as blastia. Blastia is used for everything from creating protective barriers around cities, to providing water and powering ships.

The story follows Yuri Lowell, a former Imperial Knight who forms a guild with his friends to pursue a noble thief who has stolen a blastia core that regulates the water supply in his neighborhood. The narrative takes players on a grand adventure across diverse landscapes, from bustling cities to treacherous dungeons, as they uncover a plot that threatens the entire world. The game features a real-time combat system known as the Linear Motion Battle System, which is a hallmark of the Tales series. Players control one character in battle, but can switch between characters on the fly to utilize their unique abilities and skills.

The Definitive Edition includes all the content from the original game, as well as two new playable characters, Patty Fleur, a young pirate searching for her lost memories, and Flynn Scifo, Yuri’s best friend and rival. These characters bring new dynamics to the story and combat, offering fresh experiences for both newcomers and veterans of the original game. The game also includes new scenarios, locations, and costumes that were not available in the original release.
