Valorant, a competitive 5v5 character-based tactical shooter game developed by Riot Games, introduced a new character named Gekko. Gekko is the 22nd agent to join the Valorant Protocol and the sixth initiator in the game. The character was added to the game on March 7th, 2023, during the EP 06 Act 2, v6.04 update.

Gekko, whose real name is Mateo Armendáriz De la Fuente, is a native of Los Angeles, California. He is part of the Mexican diaspora and is known for his unique abilities and his pack of creatures that he uses to dominate the battlefield. These creatures, known as radivores, have the ability to transform from their primary globule state into mimicked animalistic forms. The radivores, named Dizzy, Mosh, Thrash, and Wingman, were previously the property of K-SEC but now live with Gekko. They often travel with him wherever he goes within their small carrier that Gekko wears as a sash. From this carrier, they’ll emerge and take form at a moment’s notice to assist him.

Gekko is known for his relaxed, supportive, and kind personality. He encourages his team to work together and compliments them whenever they complete a task or impress him. He cares about the safety of his team and is receptive towards his teammates’ ideas and opinions. He usually repeats whatever his creatures say, sharing his thoughts about their dialogue as well. Gekko’s focus is teamwork and contributes a calm, laid-back mood to the game.
