Guardians of the Galaxy or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1 is a film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The movie was released in 2014 and became a huge hit. It was praised for its humour, soundtrack, visual effects and direction (James Gunn) thus receiving Academy Awards nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. The story follows a group of intergalactic criminals turned into superheroes as they come together to protect the universe from Ronan the Accusser in his mission to use a mysterious orb for his evil plans.
